Fly Fishing Destinations
Belize Fly Fishing
Our March 2023 trip to Belize, takes us to the El Pescador Lodge on Ambergris Caye, an Orvis 2022 Endorsed International Destination of the Year and Trip Advisor's 2022 Travelers' Choice recipient.
At El Pescador, anglers have the opportunity to achieve the ultimate dream - a Grand Slam of bonefish, tarpon and permit. Alongside the premiere fishing, the resort offers all-inclusive accommodations in their main loge and 8 private villas on a private beachfront location. Diving on the barrier reef or exploring the jungles, caves and ancient Mayan ruins inland are just some of the other experiences you can have when staying at El Pescador in Belize.
In February 2023, our adventures took us to Argentina with Patagonia River Guides (PRG) for a stay at the Tres Valles Lodge in the Rio Poco Valley.
The Tres Valles Lodge is a 5-star, remote, all-inclusive lodging experience. Fly fishing guests have the opportunity to experience some exceptional wade fishing on small and intimate streams combined with some of the best still-water fishing in all of South America. Anglers can choose to wade more or float more and to fish a different river, spring creek, or lake daily and are matched with a professional guide and assistant guide each day. The Rio Pico Valley offers mostly rainbow and brown trout fishing, however just north of the valley some of the best brook trout fishing in the world can be found. Most river and spring creek fish average between 14 and 22-inches. Lake fish are harder to quantify but normally average between 22 and 26-inches. Some areas provide lots of action, while others require patience and stealth, both required to stick larger trophies.
Ascension Bay Permit, Tarpon and Bonefish
Casa Blanca and sister lodge Playa Blanca are the Caribbean`s premier fly-fishing lodges. Located on the private island of Punta Pájaros, Casa and Playa Blanca feature the closest access of any area lodge to the famed flats of both Ascension and Espiritu Santo Bays In Mexico’s southern Yucatan. The unparalleled location, coupled with veteran guides, top-notch accommodations, acclaimed cuisine, and warm hospitality are the hallmarks of the Casa and Playa Blanca experience.
Baja Dorado, Roosterfish, and More!
The calm waters of the Sea of Cortez offer a tremendous variety of fishing for both traditional fishing methods and fly anglers. Abundant numbers of Marlin, Dorado, Yellowtail, Grouper, Snapper and many other species of fish call this area their home!
Abaco Island Bonefish
Fly Fish a premier flats-fishing destination due to next-level populations of supersize bonefish. Here you’ll find plenty of the latter, punctuated by more than 200 miles of prime skinny-water habitat known universally as the Marls. Step off your front porch, pour a mug of coffee, and open your eyes to an azure panoramic, where tailing bones, not to mention permit and tarpon, are top on the agenda.
Alberta's Fall Flight
Southern Alberta Waterfowl Hunts
Fly or even drive up across the border into Canada and visit our partner Andrew Dath and his waterfowl outfit. He runs a top notch outfit based out of Lethbridge and Calgary. We have been visiting him for over 10 years.
With Alberta home to millions of migrating waterfowl this is the place to visit. You will want to make this a yearly trip. Alberta’s fall flight focuses on dry field only hunts. Mallards, Canada geese, and snow geese are their bread and butter. They offer an all inclusive hunt out of a brand new lodge or a hunt only option where you they supply the guide and hunts, but you take care of the rest!
